Satellite Virtualization for Smart Oper-ations
Enable smart mission operations and training
This project will validate a satellite digital twin against the full platform, demonstrating consistency between the two solutions and enabling digital mission engineering: this will allow to the connection of digital models, full hardware or hybrid solutions together and rapidly advance system design. The platform will then be used for operator training, benefiting from its hybrid nature, to provide a comprehensive and quick training to the future mission operators.
Rapid development of new instruments
Digital twins are an easy solution to model complex systems, allowing integration of a software model with the rest of the system in early mission design phases and later replace the software model with a hardware system. This project will contribute to the development of three scientific payloads by integrating the payloads models and hardware in a hybrid satellite platform: a GNSS receiver for space traffic management, a radiation monitor and a bio-sensor for detecting molecular signatures. These payloads are currently under development at the Delft University of Technology and will be tested in a realistic environment to advance their design.
