Urgent transitions

With fifteen innovation roadmaps and a coordinating role in the Key Technologies and Security Knowledge and Innovation Agendas (KIAs), Holland High Tech is focused on urgent transitions, with an emphasis on economic and societal impact. In a constantly changing landscape of funding support for research and innovation, we at Holland High Tech seek ways to add value to both the sector and the ongoing urgent transitions.

Circular economy

At Holland High Tech, we recognise that the circular economy is an increasingly important issue for the high-tech manufacturing industry. We are strongly committed to this theme, as we are convinced that the high-tech sector must make a vital contribution to achieving the objectives of a circular economy. Holland High Tech’s Circular Economy Transition Team emphasises this importance and is working on concrete implementation through roadmaps.

Energy transition

The energy transition is a key theme in mission-driven innovation policy. The Netherlands aims to be fully climate-neutral by 2050. Holland High Tech supports the energy transition by focusing on strategic innovation programmes. To this end, we are developing a concrete action plan. Based on this plan, we are working on innovations for, within and in collaboration with the high-tech manufacturing industry that contribute to the energy transition worldwide.

Digitalisation & Smart Industry

Digitalisation, including Smart Industry, is driving rapid change. At Holland High Tech, we strive for innovations that promote Smart Industry through the use of digital technologies. To continue to develop globally, we must focus on digitalisation and Smart Industry, not least to facilitate the circular economy and the energy transition.

Key enabling technologies

Key enabling technologies form the basis for innovation, competitiveness and economic growth, not only within the high-tech sector, but also in other sectors of importance to the Netherlands. Holland High Tech coordinates strategic developments in key enabling technologies that contribute to urgent transitions, the National Growth Fund and European programmes.

Innovation domains

Innovation is essential for strengthening the Dutch economy and contributes to a safe, sustainable and self-reliant future for our country. In our innovation sectors, experts from research institutions and the business community work together to develop (key) technologies and applications that will ensure the Netherlands remains at the forefront of high-tech innovation.
