DSPE Opto-Mechatronics Symposium 2026

08 October 2026, 09:30 - 20:00

On 8 October 2026, the DSPE (Dutch Society for Precision Engineering) will be organising the seventh edition of the DSPE Opto-Mechatronics Symposium, at Mikrocentrum in Veldhoven. This year’s theme is ‘The opto-mechatronics of telescopes: from tiny to extremely large’. The symposium will focus on the latest technology for telescopic instruments, a subject of great importance to the Dutch high-tech sector with its strong position in optics and precision technology.

External event

The instrumentation required to image space presents major challenges. The design, materials and construction of these instruments must take into account not only resolving power, but also constraints relating to size, configuration, weight and thermal variations. The symposium provides insight into the latest technological developments in this field, ranging from compact optical systems to instrumentation for extremely large telescopes.

For whom

The symposium will be of interest to engineers, system architects and R&D managers working on the design and construction of optical and opto-mechatronic systems, particularly for applications in space and astronomy. Researchers and technical specialists from the precision technology and photonics industries will also find the programme relevant.
