Tx/Rx Isolation Measurements of FMCW Radar using a Reverberation Chamber

FMCW radar is crucial for defence, automotive, and aerospace applications. Isolation between transmit and receive antennas is essential. Reverberation chambers may offer a cost-effective alternative to anechoic chambers. This project investigates their suitability for isolation measurements and develops a reliable method for rapid characterization of this parameter.

Approach

The project develops a reliable method to measure antenna isolation and coupling in reverberation chambers. This contributes to circular design through improved repair and maintenance. TU/e, Antennex, and Robin Radar collaborate in three phases: defining use cases, developing methods, and experimental validation. It strengthens the Dutch position in radar and semiconductor technology, aligns with the KIA Safety agenda, and is applicable to defence, automotive, and 6G systems.
