ECLIPSE

thErmoplastische Composieten voor Laag-sIgnatuur, Printbare en Schaalbare Elementen

Project ECLIPSE develops circular, multifunctional composite materials with low detectability for defense applications. Through smart material development and flexible production technologies, fast and local production is made possible, with reduced reliance on primary raw materials.

Multifunctional materials

ECLIPSE develops lightweight, fiber-reinforced thermoplastics that combine structural strength with signature reduction. The focus is on integrating multiple functionalities into a single material, suitable for demanding conditions, enabling tough, lightweight structures.

Flexible production

The project investigates how additive manufacturing and thermoplastic processing can be utilized for fast, flexible, and decentralized production. This enables on-demand fabrication and repair close to the deployment site and with shorter lead times.

Resilient supply chain

ECLIPSE develops methods to mechanically recycle and reuse these high-performance materials. This creates a circular material flow, increasing availability and reducing the use of primary raw materials.
