Background Report Inference and Description with Generative EEG

The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a key examination for the assessment of brain function. Interpretation of the background pattern, including the posterior dominant rhythm, reactivity, antero posterior gradients, diffuse slowing and hemispheric asymmetries, is essential for clinical diagnosis, yet it remains time consuming, variable across readers, and strongly dependent on the EEG sensor configuration, signal quality and artifacts.

In the BRIDGE project we develop a hybrid AI pipeline that turns routine EEG sensor recordings into a structured and clinically faithful background report. We collaborate with Clinical Science Systems (supplier of clinical EEG sensor systems) and Medisch Spectrum Twente. BRIDGE delivers a reliable, transparent and clinically usable bridge between EEG sensors and clinical reporting that reduces workload for neurophysiologists, improves consistency across institutions, and supports the safe deployment of generative AI in routine clinical EEG workflows.
