Advancing Personalized Home Care: Microscale Sensors for Daily Urine Analysis and Disease Monitoring

Our solution supports aging patients with chronic conditions via novel sensing technologies. We develop microscale sensors for home urine analysis, focusing on long-term sodium and potassium monitoring. This real-time, non-invasive approach enables early detection of health decline, better medication adjustment, and proactive disease management outside hospital settings.

WP1: ASSURE microscale electrochemical sensors

Work Package 1 focuses on the ASSURE core technology development which includes the design and fabrication of highly selective microscale electrochemical sensors for sodium (Na⁺) and potassium (K⁺) sensing, including the development of ion-selective membranes, solid-contact interfaces (such as PEDOT:PSS or POT), and miniaturization strategies suitable for integration in compact systems.

WP2: ASSURE Technology Robustness

Work Package 2 addresses the robustness, environmental stability, and long-term usability of the ASSURE sensor technology. Here, the focus is on encapsulation techniques, antifouling strategies, and modular design to ensure reliable operation over extended periods under real-life toilet conditions, including exposure to varying pH, salt concentrations, and biofouling.

WP3: Integration of the Hardware Platform

Work Package 3 integrates the ASSURE sensor system with Wadify’s hardware and software platform. This includes embedded electronics for signal processing, wireless data transmission (via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi), and mobile/cloud-based visualization. This integration ensures that users and care professionals receive accurate and real-time feedback, enabling timely medical interventions and data-driven decision-making.
