Two roadmaps, one course: new Semiconductor Technologies Roadmap 2026–2029

19 June 2026

The industry-driven Holland High Tech roadmaps Electronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment have been merged into one: the Semiconductor Technologies Roadmap 2026–2029. Both domains have a strong base of their own, but increasingly meet in technology, applications and innovation questions.

This new roadmap aligns with the National Technology Strategy (NTS), its accompanying Semiconductor Technologies action agenda and Holland High Tech's Semiconductor Technologies innovation domain. Developed jointly over the past 18 months by companies, knowledge institutions and public partners, this combined roadmap makes it clearer where the Dutch semiconductor industry wants to focus and accelerate.

The scope of the new roadmap runs from manufacturing equipment, chip technology and integrated circuits to electronic products and systems, including design, characterisation, production and test methodologies. Themes include advanced packaging, heterogeneous integration, sustainability and human capital.

Ronald van Es, programme manager at Holland High Tech: "The connection between these two ecosystems was already there — in the companies, in the innovation domain and in the NTS action agenda. This joint, industry-driven roadmap allows us to act on it more deliberately. Holland High Tech brings the parties together, sets the agenda and helps find the right partners in the innovation helix. Together with industry and High Tech NL, we work on developing and updating the roadmaps. Our thanks to Frans List and Simon van den Berg for leading the substantive process."
