Quantum technology: new TechBridge call for collaboration with the United Kingdom

26 October 2026

Are you working on second-generation quantum technology and looking for partners in the United Kingdom? If so, the new TechBridge call may be of interest to you. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, is making €1.2 million available for joint R&D projects with British partners. Applications can be submitted from 2 November 2026 to 9 February 2027 inclusive.

The key technologies set out in the National Technology Strategy form the building blocks for tomorrow’s economy. International collaboration accelerates their development. Through this call, the Ministry aims to encourage Dutch companies, knowledge institutions and research organisations to develop, prototype and test quantum technology in collaboration with British partners, with a view to commercialisation. Projects involving testbeds or pilot production lines in either country are encouraged.

Who can take part?

A consortium must consist of at least one Dutch and one UK company. The Dutch lead organisation must always be a company; research institutions may join as project partners. Dutch partners must submit their application to RVO, whilst UK partners must submit theirs to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), both under the same project title.

Terms and conditions and funding

Projects focus on civil applications, involve a technological risk for all partners and last for a maximum of 24 months. No single organisation or country may bear more than 70 per cent of the eligible costs. A maximum of €300,000 is available per Dutch consortium. The grant percentage ranges from 25 to 50 per cent, depending on the type of activity and the organisation.

Online information session on 11 November

On Wednesday 11 November 2026, from 12.30 to 13.30, RVO and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) are organising an online information session on the call. Anyone with an interest in R&D collaboration in the field of quantum technology is welcome to attend.
