Dutch companies, and SMEs in particular, face significant challenges in terms of labour productivity, adaptability, innovative capacity and profitability. AI and (cognitive) robotics can help organisations work more efficiently, enhance the learning capacity of organisations and employees, and remain competitive. Technology alone is not enough, however. The call invites researchers and partners from the business community and the public sector to take a holistic view of the entire innovation ecosystem, in which cognitive robotics plays a key role.
Cognitive robotics: an opportunity for the hightech ecosystem
Cognitive robotics, which combines industrial robotics with AI, offers the Dutch manufacturing sector significant opportunities to become more productive and agile. Smart, flexible robots make a real difference, particularly in the production of small, highly complex batches – a hallmark of Dutch manufacturing. However, successful implementation requires more than just technology: people with the right knowledge and skills are also indispensable. It is precisely this interaction between people and technology that is at the heart of this call. In doing so, this call responds to developments in the innovation domains of Mechatronics & Optomechatronics, Optical Systems & Integrated Photonics, Imaging Technologies and Smart Industry.
