The six calls
The calls cover the full spectrum of the quantum domain: from hardware platforms for three different qubit technologies, through quantum-secure communication, to the testing and production infrastructure required to actually scale up these technologies. The funding is distributed across the various calls as follows:
Trapped-ion platform technologies (€20 million) For the development of a full-stack trapped-ion quantum computer targeting more than 1,000 qubits.
Superconducting platform technologies (€20 million) For projects developing a scalable superconducting quantum computer system capable of demonstrating practical utility in real-world applications, and which contribute to the establishment of European supply chains for quantum computer components.
Neutral-atom platform technologies (€20 million) For projects that advance neutral-atom quantum technology by delivering scalable, industry-ready quantum processors for simulation and computing power.
Next-gen QKD systems (€24 million) For projects that strengthen European autonomy in the field of quantum-secure communication, with integration into existing networks and hybrid QKD/PQC approaches.
Quantum testing infrastructure (€20 million) Aimed at establishing open-access testing and certification infrastructure, specifically to support SMEs and start-ups.
Quantum experimental pilot lines (€15 million) For projects that support the production, reproducibility and scalability of quantum processors, sensors and cryo-compatible packaging.
