Ton Peijnenburg
I studied electrical engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), where I received my master's degree in 1992. My first job was as a development engineer in the mechatronics department of the Philips Center for Industrial Technology (Eindhoven), where I later became a project manager and group leader. In 2002, I was seconded as a group manager to Philips Electronics North America – first in Sunnyvale, California, and later in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2008, I returned to the Netherlands and became R&D manager for the Phenom scanning electron microscopes at FEI (Eindhoven).
In April 2010, I joined VDL Enabling Technologies Group (Eindhoven) as manager of advanced development, where I currently hold the position of deputy director of Technology & Development. During that period, I was appointed as a research fellow at the High Tech Systems Center of Eindhoven University of Technology in 2015, a part-time position I still hold. In this role, I joined the Mechatronics Working Group, a sounding board with members from Dutch industry and academia active in mechatronics, currently serving as a board member. Members include ASML, Canon, Thermo Fisher, KNS, NTS, DEMCON, Sioux, VSL, TNO, Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, and the University of Twente.
I also joined the advisory board of the Electrochemical Conversion & Materials platform (no longer active) and the advisory board of Flanders Make. I co-initiated the Continuous Learning Line for Systems Engineering project within the framework of NXTGEN Hightech, where I remain a member of the steering committee.
I am a board member of the Dutch Society of Precision Engineering (DSPE) and actively involved in developing the Action Agenda for KIA Key Technologies. Since 2000, I have been involved in robot soccer within RoboCup, currently as captain of the Robot Sports team.
