Innovative Model-based decision support systems for Personalised Anti-Coagulent Therapy for patients during Open Heart Surgeries

Heparin (anticoagulant) and protamine (binds heparin) are important medications to achieve a good balance of thrombosis and bleeding risk during open heart surgery. To keep a good balance for the patient is complex due to patient variability, increasing risks of thrombosis or bleeding. Current treatment guidelines hardly account for individual patient profiles, leading to suboptimal outcomes.

Collaboration

In this project TU/e, HEMEO, MUMC and CZE will collaborate on research and development of personalised decision support for coagulation management for anaesthetists using AI technologies.
