Holland High Tech: coordinator & connector

The Netherlands faces major social challenges. Fortunately, searching, devising and realizing solutions is in our DNA. As a top sector, Holland High Tech is the coordinator, connector and driver of the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Key Enabling Technologies (KIA ST) and Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Security (KIA V). In these KIAs, innovative entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions, top sectors and governments work together to create a future-proof Netherlands.

Missions and KIA's

Government, business and knowledge institutions work together in this mission-driven innovation policy to stimulate innovation on five central missions: Energy transition, Circular economy, Agriculture-Water-Food, Health & Care and Safety. To achieve this, the top sectors have been working together since 2019 on Knowledge and Innovation Agendas (KIAs) for innovation with social and economic impact:

KIA ST

Key Enabling Technologies change the way we live, learn, innovate, work and produce in the future. They offer solutions to solve social challenges we face and at the same time make a major contribution to our economy, increase competition and strengthen the labor market. In the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Key Enabling Technologies, we provide direction for (inter)national collaborations, build our innovative ecosystem, strengthen networks and co-initiate new platforms. Our joint efforts make us an important partner in government policy.

KIA V

Safety is one of the social themes in the mission-driven innovation policy. Five missions have been defined for the KIA V under the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Justice and Security, which require (applied) innovations. The KIA V missions require the development of new knowledge and innovations that contribute to a safer society and a more resilient Netherlands, and that create economic opportunities, including on the export market. To achieve this, we stimulate new partnerships in KIA V, between companies and universities as well as organizations.
