Building Emission Analysis & Climate Observation Network

Continuous mapping of greenhouse gas emissions is key to limiting climate change. Particularly for the two most important anthropogenic gases, CO2 and CH4, fast and accurate monitoring is paramount to implementing targeted mitigations and measuring their effects. Recent successful launches of new monitoring missions stress the need for dynamic decision making, e.g., for selecting observation targets, based on the best available data and newest analysis tools.

BEACON aims co-develop a comprehensive SW suite to implement (AI-assisted) observation strategies for targeted (Earth Observation) missions. In doing so it will further strengthen the Netherlands position as a world-leading supplier of networked and comprehensive solutions for GHG monitoring missions in a rapidly growing and competitive field.
