Interim update SEAMIIC project: Autonomous parts handling and quality control

4 September 2025

How can Europe’s manufacturing industry remain competitive, flexible and sustainable? Within the public-private partnership project SEAMIIC, TNO, AM-Flow and Rösler Benelux have been working together since April 2024 to find answers to that question. The project was awarded as a PPP in 2023 and runs until 2026.

At the SEAMIIC field lab, located at the Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven, researchers are exploring how humans and robots can work together safely and efficiently. Experiments include smart grippers, vision systems and artificial intelligence that can independently make decisions about product quality. The project aims to reduce errors, shorten lead times and create a future-proof manufacturing industry.

TNO recently published an update with more details on the approach, ambitions and interim results. The field lab is open to companies that want to experiment and innovate with autonomous technology.
